Over the years, Netflix has built a reputation for creating addictive series with passionate fanbases and then sometimes canceling them just when things were getting interesting. Whether it was cliffhangers, unfinished character arcs, or simply wasted potential, these shows still spark outrage, petitions, and endless Reddit threads years later.

Here are the Netflix originals fans still wish had gotten one more season.

Mindhunter

David Fincher’s psychological crime drama wasn’t just another serial killer show. It was intelligent, slow-burning, and deeply unsettling in the best way possible.

Season 2 teased bigger stories involving the BTK killer, and fans were convinced the series was building toward something massive. Instead, the show quietly disappeared into “indefinite hiatus,” which felt like heartbreak for crime-thriller lovers everywhere.

Even today, people still beg Netflix to revive it.

The OA

No cancellation hurt quite like The OA.

The show blended sci-fi, spirituality, alternate dimensions, and emotional storytelling into something completely unique. Season 2 ended with one of the wildest meta twists in streaming history  and then Netflix pulled the plug.

Fans launched campaigns, hunger strikes, and petitions trying to save it. That level of devotion says everything.

1899

Created by the minds behind Dark, 1899 had all the ingredients of another masterpiece: mystery, layered storytelling, and mind-bending reveals.

The show ended with enormous unanswered questions, and fans expected multiple seasons. Instead, Netflix canceled it after just one season, leaving viewers stuck with theories and no closure.

Santa Clarita Diet

Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant delivered one of the funniest and weirdest zombie comedies on streaming.

The chemistry was perfect. The humor was chaotic. And the Season 3 finale ended on a gigantic cliffhanger that practically screamed for another season.

Fans are still angry because the show was canceled at the absolute worst moment possible.

Archive 81

Found-footage horror fans instantly connected with Archive 81.

The series mixed cult horror, creepy tapes, supernatural mysteries, and emotional storytelling in a way that felt fresh compared to typical horror content. Critics loved it, audiences loved it, and many assumed Season 2 was guaranteed.

It wasn’t.

That sudden cancellation still feels bizarre considering the show’s growing popularity.

GLOW

Inspired by women’s wrestling in the 1980s, GLOW had heart, humor, and one of Netflix’s best ensemble casts.

The worst part? Season 4 was actually happening before production shut down during the pandemic. Netflix later canceled it entirely, meaning fans never got the planned ending.

For many viewers, this one still feels unfinished in the most painful way.

Teenage Bounty Hunters

This underrated gem mixed teen drama, comedy, and bounty hunting into something surprisingly addictive.

Despite strong reviews and growing word-of-mouth support, Netflix canceled it after one season. Fans still argue the show never even got the chance it deserved.

It’s become one of those “hidden Netflix gems” people constantly rediscover.

Julie and the Phantoms

Musical shows rarely build loyal fandoms this quickly.

The songs went viral, the cast became fan favorites overnight, and viewers connected deeply with its emotional storytelling. Netflix even let the fandom hope for renewal for months before officially canceling it.

Fans haven’t stopped asking for a comeback since.

Marco Polo

Before Netflix dominated fantasy and historical epics, Marco Polo tried to become the platform’s answer to prestige adventure television.

The show had massive scale, stunning visuals, and ambitious storytelling. While expensive production costs reportedly hurt its future, many fans still believe it ended before reaching its full potential.

Sense8

Created by the Wachowskis, Sense8 developed one of the most passionate fan communities Netflix has ever seen.

The cancellation backlash became so intense that Netflix eventually approved a finale special just to give fans some closure. But many viewers still believe the story deserved multiple additional seasons.

The emotional connection audiences had with these characters was rare.

I Am Not Okay with This

This coming-of-age series mixed awkward teenage life with dark humor and supernatural powers.

Viewers loved its raw emotional energy and unique tone, especially after the explosive Season 1 ending. But despite strong reactions online, Netflix canceled it, reportedly due to pandemic-related production issues.

Fans still talk about what Season 2 could have explored.

Why These Cancellations Still Hurt Fans

Netflix moves fast. New shows constantly replace old ones, and the platform often prioritizes fresh content over long-running storytelling. But these series created emotional investment that audiences don’t easily forget.

A bad finale is frustrating. No ending at all is worse.

That’s why years later, fans are still rewatching, campaigning, theorizing, and hoping one day their favorite canceled show might magically return.

And honestly? Some of them absolutely deserved that chance.
